Have you ever looked up from your calendar, realized it’s the end of the month, and thought, “Wait… wasn’t it just Labor Day?” That’s been me all through September. Between projects, deadlines, and about three cups too few of coffee, I blinked - and suddenly found myself at October’s doorstep.
If you’ve been checking the blog and wondering where I’ve been, thank you for noticing my absence! I want to apologize for the unexpected quiet. The truth is, September brought a lot. It hasn’t just been the usual busyness of higher ed and writing life - I also started back to school myself and am currently enrolled in a graduate-level political science course this semester. On the personal side, my family has been cleaning out my grandmother’s house, which has been equal parts memory lane and heavy lifting. And most difficult of all, we said goodbye to our sweet Bailey in mid-August. It’s been a month of juggling, grieving, and trying to keep moving forward.
The good news? I’m back. My goal is to get us back on track this month with regular posts. That said, I’ll be honest: October is shaping up to be busy too, so I’m asking you to grant me a little grace if I slip and miss a post here or there. (Think of it as me practicing what I preach about self-compassion and realistic goal setting.)
And before I sign off—if you haven’t heard yet, there’s some exciting news! The paperback version of Cats Don't Carpool: They Come in Their Own Accord [How to Navigate Difficult Teams, Empower Quiet Leaders, and Finally Stop Herding Cats] was officially released on October 1st. If you’ve been waiting to hold it in your hands (or gift it to your favorite cat-loving leader), now’s your chance.
Thanks for sticking with me—I’m looking forward to spending October with you here on the blog.
